Renewal as a General Pharmacy Technician

A pharmacy technician’s certificate of registration expires annually on March 31st. Pharmacy technicians must renew their registration and submit all required documentation and fees to the PEI College of Pharmacy office by March 15th each year.

Registration renewals are completed online through the registrant portal of the PEI College of Pharmacy website. Each registrant is provided with a unique username and password to log into their personal profile.

Requirements

The requirements for registration renewal are set out in the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician Regulations.

During the online renewal process, registrants will declare that they have:

  1. Completed the continuing education requirement of 20 CEUs and entered the activities into the online Professional Development Log found in the registrant profile;
  2. Demonstrated currency of professional knowledge and skills by, in the three years preceding renewal:
    a. successfully completing an accredited pharmacy technician training program, or
    b. actively practicing pharmacy as a pharmacy technician, without the imposition of restrictions, for at least 600 hours, or
    c. successfully completing a refresher program satisfactory to the registrar.
  3. Ensured their personal professional liability insurance is current and submitted evidence to the PEICP by uploading their certificate to the registrant profile.

Fees

Registrants will access a fee invoice through the registrant profile. Renewals are not considered complete until all required documentation is received and fees are paid. Fees are non-refundable.
